The Homemaker

by the way this is not my house...unfortunately!

Making your home a beautiful reflection of you....

  •  Pick a theme you like and stick to it. (country, modern, tradtional etc...)
  • Buy a binder and start cutting pictures out of magazines that you like and keep them in the binder in page protectors. As you do this your style will become clearer to you.
  • Look in your closet to find the colors you like, if you wear that color you like it. Most likely you will not get tired of the color. For example my kitchen is apple red and I have no less than 6 red shirts in my closet! Accordingly, I love my kitchen and it is a reflection of my personality.

How to Personalize Your Home

What's your signature?

In Emile Barnes' book, Simple Secrets to a Beautiful Home, she talks about women having a signature in their home. What is your signature? My signature is hazlenut candles, blue and white china (which is found on the walls of many of my rooms)  and the color red. So I guess anytime my friends smell hazlenut or see blue and white china or red they will think of me. What is your signature?

We are called to Hospitality

Hospitality entails having people in our homes and taking food to people in their homes (perhaps after the birth of a child, illness etc...). A friend once told me that a (Non-Christian woman from a foriegn land)  friend of hers  said that American are very nice but that they never invite you home. As Christians we are to be know by how we love and as Christian women this is one way we can love those around us! Food does not have to be fancy, just have enough to feed everyone!  Hospitality is not an option the Lord has commanded us to it!

(Romans 12:13 Share with God's people who are in need. Practice hospitality. ,

Romans 16:23 Gaius, whose hospitality I and the whole church here enjoy

1 Peter 4:9 Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling.  3 John 1:8 We ought therefore to show hospitality to such men so that we may work together for the truth. )
